Sweet Summertime

Do you want to know what I have been up to? I finally uploaded the pictures from my camera. I had a really fun summer and got to do a bunch of fun stuff with some really awesome people. I didn't take my camera to all of these events but here are a few.

I may or may not have gone down the sheep tunnels in Cedar City with Adam, Brittni, and Mindy. We had a fabulous time and they absolutely did not use my spray paint to add to the beauty of the surroundings.

I went to Sand Hollow in May and the water was chilly! We had a good time hanging out on the beach and swimming.

Cedar City is always windy and on this particular day we had the right amount of wind. Not too strong and not too weak, because we are like Goldilocks and are sort of picky about our kite flying days. Lynsie managed to tie all of the string that we had on our various kites to her kite and had it flying so high! It was hanging out above the freeway and I was kind of nervous if the wind stopped there was going to be an accident, but Lynsie is a pro kite flyer and she flew that super long kite amazingly well. Good times

I convinced Brittni and Mindy to do the Greenwood Triathlon because I am cool like that and like to torture my friends for fun. I also really need to stop opening my mouth up really wide in pictures.
Marcia, Michael, and I went and hiked Angel's Landing at Zions. It was good bonding time for The Little People (because we are so little). We hiked, talked, and were basically super silly.

I really like the picture of Marcia looking super exasperated.  This is how she looks at me all the time.

If you want to get some really nice bruises while having a scary/fun time you should ride a tube down the river by Hatch with Maggie, Sheena, and Brittni. We went when the river was running really fast and there were some excellent times to be had.
I went to Lake Powell twice this summer, but I only took pictures with my camera the second time. It was really fun to have my nieces and nephews go to Lake Powell. Looking at babies in life vests makes me feel happy and sad at the same time. Happy because they look adorable but sad because they look so uncomfortable.

Last weekend I went with a bunch of people from work to Hatch to float the river again. It was a really fun trip I only got to float a little ways down before my tube popped, but it was still fun.

Basically I had a really fun summer and was able to do a lot of things. Thanks for reading this super long post.

Next week I start on a new adventure and am going to start working in Salt Lake for Jensen & Keddington as a staff auditor. I am a little bit nervous, but I am excited to start a new chapter in my life. I have conflicted feelings. I have lived in Cedar City for 5 years minus 1 summer so a big city will be a bit of an adjustment. I am sad to be leaving my friends here, but am excited to be closer to some family and friends that live in SLC. Basically, I am a mess.

The most memorable days usually end with the dirtiest clothes.

Magic

I went to the doctor yesterday because I have had a sore throat for a year. Yep, a year. In my defense I did go to the doctor last year for a sore throat, but it was a stubborn sore throat and every time I thought it was almost gone it would come back. So yesterday, after spending approximately 20 minutes filling out paperwork and 5 minutes getting things such as weight (ack!), temperature (98.5), blood pressure (110 over something) and pulse (I want to say 60…) measured. I sat there and waited played my Ipod and when the doctor came in he looked at my ears and my throat, talked to me for about 1 minute and gave me a prescription for…wait for it…MAGIC mouthwash (nasty stuff) and Keflex.

Last night I took the medicine and noticed that on the Keflex was the word Lupin. So I’m thinking that the doctor lied. It is not a sore throat at all but the beginning stages of turning into a werewolf. Yes, a werewolf. I mean they gave me magic mouthwash…

I think my owl got lost when I was eleven.

Tumbling Random Thoughts

Warning: The following list of thoughts might not make sense and you are not allowed to judge me for anything that might come out weird.

  • I think that April is a fantastic month.
  • Some of my very favorite people are born in April
  • Calling a three year old to wish her happy birthday can be really fun and awkward at the same time.
  • Sorry Emery for thinking that you said you were Emily, you really don't sound like you are 3...I promise.
  • Mary insisting that Friday is a weird day and that I should go see her on Thursday instead made me happy.
  • Daisies and Tulips are competing as my favorite flower. They are both so fun and cheerful.
  • I am almost done making my new quilt for my bed
  • and by almost, I mean I have many more hours of quilting
  • dang me and my pre-project ambition.
  • I really want a cupcake right now.
  • My siblings are entertaining and super random.
  • Mindy Crockett comes back from the land northward today.
  • This makes me happy but I would dare say that Brittni is happier.
  • I very rarely dream.
  • I am glad that I don't dream very often, because when I do dream it is often disturbing.
  • I don't really know how to respond when people tell me about their dreams.
  • I don't hang out with Marcia enough.
  • I need new music.
  • I am supposed to ride my bike a long ways at the end of the month...umm yeah...
  • It is windy in the land of Cedar.
  • It snowed on Saturday. That is wrong for two reasons: 1. It is APRIL and 2. It was SATURDAY.
  • I am going to be 23 in a few weeks.
  • This weirds me out.
  • Where did the last year go?
  • I like my haircut
  • umm... I did warn you.

Live your dreams. Except for that one about being EATEN by the GIANT SPIDER

Greenwood Triathlon

The time has come, my friends,
To talk of many things:
Of bikes--and shoes--and swimming suits--
Of good times--and of friends--

...I was going to try and go on with ripping off Lewis Carroll but instead I will just tell you that you should do the Greenwood Triathlon, it is jolly good times and fun will be had by all! If I can do it, you can definitely do it!

For more info, go here. Basically, on May 28 my family (mostly Mom) puts on a triathlon that starts at the Fillmore Swimming Pool and ends up at my parents house. I am never the fastest, but it is always fun. I think that Carla has come in first for the girls all of the past triathlons, but she is going to have a baby about that time and is out of the running, therefore someone else might have a chance, it probably won't be me (really, have you seen me run?) , but that could be incentive for you to participate!

"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

No Sugar March

Okay, so if you know me at all you know that I am probably a little too addicted to sugar. Yep, I admitted it. That is the first step, right? I crave basically anything with that particular white powdery stuff. This would be all fine and good if sugar loved me as much as I love it, but alas (ha, I just used the word alas!) it doesn’t. It continually likes to make me be a little bit more round and fluffy than I would really like to be, now if I were a cake or a cookie or some other confectionary goodness that would be great, but I am definitely not one of those, even though I am starting to resemble them.

At this point you are probably wondering what the point of this tirade is, well I am going to try and go off refined sugar for the month of March. GASP! Shocker, I know.. This means that I am going to try really hard not to eat refined sugar.  I am still going to eat fruits and naturally occurring sugars and some natural sugar substitutes are okay in moderation and maybe have one day a week be a free day(I I have to have something sweet. I might go crazy if I don’t have any sweets at all). So

So here is the deal. My lovely, awesome, wonderful people (and by people, I mainly mean roommates) you have to help me. When I am standing in the kitchen wanting to make cupcakes or brownies or something, you need to tell me no. I know, this goes against all instincts and you never agreed to go on the no-sugar thing with me. But I think it could be good to see that I CAN and WILL survive without copious amounts of sugar running through my bloodstream.

Okay, I think I beat that topic to a pulp.
