Procrastination

This is my life. I am procrastinating right now. Umm...Mom you didn't read that. Does anyone want to take my quiz on leases and contingencies? I have spent the time I set aside to study to check facebook and look for something to put on this blog. Oh, by the way, I am not as dumb as I think I am. I totally thought I had a C in Practice and Theory and I have an A. I have no idea how this is even possible, but it made me super happy when I calculated my grade.

Anyone can do any amount of work, provided it isn't the work he is supposed to be doing at that moment. ~Robert Benchley

14th Article of Faith

We believe in meetings - all that have been scheduled, all that are now scheduled, and we believe that there will yet be scheduled many great and important meetings. We have endured many meetings and hope to be able to endure all meetings. Indeed we may say that if there is a meeting, or anything that resembles a meeting, or anything that we might possibly turn into a meeting, we seek after these things.

A Wise Old Owl

A wise old owl sat on an oak.
The more he sat, the less he spoke.
The less he spoke, the more he heard.
Why can't we all be like that wise old bird?
- Grandma Henrie

Don't You Wish Life Had A Soundtrack?

Mine did today. It was sort of fun. My alarm clock went off and my mind radio started playing this song by Jason Mraz.

Next on my mind radio came the song from Aida  titled "Strongest Suit" . It may have had something to do with the fact I couldn't decide what to wear. I can't find a good link to this song.
Then in the car on the way to work Brittni played a song by She & Him (it was not this song, but there isn't a music video on YouTube)

The playlist I listened to at work was fun and had a little bit of George Strait and Chris Cagle and such but this song was my favorite for the morning part of my work day:

And then my Zen decided to mix it up a little and play some comedy stuff so I listened to a little bit of this by Jerry Seinfeld

Then on my walk to class I had the Jason Mraz song replay in my head. (See the wake up part of the day) I think that this made a replay because Cedar City decided to be warm for a minute. It was seriously beautiful and I wished I could stay outside instead of going to my class.
I can't recall any specific song from class, but as you can tell from this post, I usually have one song or another stuck in my head. This is probably why I don't absorb as much as I should in class.)

Then I went back to work and listened to some more country music such as this, this, and this.

By this time it is 6:30 and I am frantically trying to finish a project for the auditors that are going to seven of the agencies next week. This project has been ongoing and it is almost finished. I am so happy about this and this song is playing.

Then I go pick up Brittni and listened to some more She & Him. Zoey Deschanel is the She in She & Him. She is a really good singer and actress and the little sister of Emily Deschenel who is Temperance Brennan on Bones.

Then we drive home and there wasn't any music in the kitchen while I eat dinner, but we drove to Golden Spoon for frozen yogurt (I highly recommend the pomegranate flavor. YUM!)  and listened to some songs by She &Him (did I mention that their new album came out today) and came home and watched the music video and watched this Vampire Weekend Video.

We also watched some music videos by Pomplamoose. They are amazing, two people do all of the instrumentals and vocals.

Anyway, there is my musical day. I actually did get some work done, contrary to how this looks. It is just not as fun to blog about how I did consolidation spreadsheets and trained people how to do bank reconciliations and apply insurance payments into accounting systems and how bored I was in Ethics and what I learned about mediation in my negotiations class. Oh, does anyone want to write my book report? Anyone? Okay, talk to you later, I need to finish reading my book and listen to some new music.

Life is like a box of crayons.  Most people are the eight-color boxes, but what you're really looking for are the 64-color boxes with the sharpeners on the back.  I fancy myself to be a 64-color box, though I've got a few missing.  It's okay though, because I've got some more vibrant colors like periwinkle at my disposal.  I have a bit of a problem though in that I can only meet the eight-color boxes.  Does anyone else have that problem?  I mean, there are so many different colors of life, of feeling, of articulation, so when I meet someone who's an eight-color type I'm like, "hey girl, magenta!" and she's like, "oh, you mean purple!" and she goes off on her purple thing, and I'm like, "no - I want magenta!"  ~John Mayer

Second Cousin, Once Removed

You might be a redneck if...you can meet the new girl at work and just by knowing her last name discover you are second cousins, once removed. Apparently Grandma J has a brother named Max who has a son Dan who has a daughter Brianne. We figured out we were related, but I had to call my mom for the geneology chart. Neat? I think so.

Chesley Pants

Today I was cleaning out some of my old notebooks and folders and came across some excellent memories. My roommates and I apparently had a little too much free time freshmen year and we would write random notes. I received several love notes from various characters such as Nard the Nerd, Dudley the Dork, Gregory the Geek, and a Harry Potter loving secret admirer. One particular day, Lynsie must have been especially bored and  wrote me this note, which is much better in her handwriting, but I don't want to have to mess with the scanner.

Dearest Chesley Pants,
Enclosed is the write up for your biography. What a gripping tale it was! We hope you will like the brief summary we have decided to print on the back cover for people of all ages to discover and love. We are assured it will become a timeless classic - ranked among those like Kiss My Cold Dead Lips and Your Shoes Smell Like Candy Corn.

Best of Luck -
Sincerely,
Your Editors and Publisher

Welcome to sparsely populated Holden. The only problem is that it is too sparsely populated for Chesley Pants to find true love. By all appearances Chesley has a life many people dream of. She is a wonderful cook, a spineless chocoholic, and is bilingual. However, Chesley Pants would rather be sitting at home, accepting travelers checks, than eating chicken tacos. And those that know her know that underneath the surface lies a complex girl, who loves her non-liquor, probably a little too much.
Enter Thadius Mumford, a pizza delivery boy who can quote Dr. Seuss by heart. At first Chesley finds Thadius annoying -cute, but annoying. Even with some intellectual and psychological problems, they fall deeply, blissfully in love. When their brief time together comes to an end, they decide to meet again in sixty years to find out if their attraction had any lasting possibilities. But time has a way of complicating even the most beautiful of beginnings. Chesley's friend, finding out about the arranged meeting, change the names and numbers in her cell phone, severing her ties with the illiterate, edging forty, delivery boy.
Years later, Chesley has grown ill of eating pizza, ordering out every meal in hopes of seeing Thadius again. Giving up on ever finding true love, Chesley finds herself facing a decision - spending her last $40 on a trip to a Dr. Seuss convention or actually accepting the offer of a date from the handsome millionaire in the next town over.

I hope you enjoyed that. I can't remember receiving this letter and Lynsie said that she can't remember writing it, but it made me really happy to find it tonight. Maybe you will get to hear some of the love notes another day.

Long separated by cruel fate, the star-crossed lovers raced across the grassy field toward each other like two freight trains, one having left Cleveland at 6:36 p.m.traveling at 55 mph, the other from Topeka at 4:19 p.m.at a speed of 35 mph.

This just reminded me of Mom...

This comic reminded me of my Mom. She is amazing, but can never quite make it to the end of a movie. When we talk about a movie later she will ask, "Did I watch that? Did I like it?" I Love You Mom!

Sundays and Roommates

Naps in general make me happy but sunday naps are the best!! I took a long one today and am probably not going to be able to sleep tonight...oh well. I also went on a long walk with Nicole. It is such a nice night outside. We found out that there is a park about fifty yards from our back door, apparently we are not very adventurous. I love my roommates! They are the best! The pictures are from the last few Sundays in Cedar. Don't look at me in the pictures, but aren't Lynsie, Nicole, and Brittni super cute?

Mort the Mouse Lemur: I like them, I like them! I liked them first! Before I even met them I liked them! As soon as I met them I liked them right away! You hate them compared to how much I like them!

March Fourth...

Ark
Today is Ark Day. Grandpa Johnson has always called March Fourth, Ark Day. Until last year I thought that the Bible said. "And Noah said, 'March Forth." So I had an Ark Day party and everyone wanted to know the reference. Apparently it is just what happened and is never actually written in the Bible. So...don't try to look it up...but have a Happy Ark Day!

Noah’s Ark Everything I need to know, I learned from Noah’s Ark…
ONE: Don’t miss the boat.
TWO: Remember that we are all in the same boat.
THREE: Plan ahead. It wasn’t raining when Noah built the Ark.
FOUR: Stay fit. When you’re 60 years old, someone may ask you to do something really big.
FIVE: Don’t listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done.
SIX: Build your future on high ground.
SEVEN: For safety’s sake, travel in pairs.
EIGHT: Speed isn’t always an advantage. The snails were on board with the cheetahs.
NINE: When you’re stressed, float awhile.
TEN: Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals.
ELEVEN: No matter the storm, when you are with God, there’s always a rainbow waiting.

Easter Candy

My all-time favorite candy is Cadbury Mini Eggs. They are YUMMY!! I also love the sweet-tart jelly beans, chicks, bunnies, & ducks, and a plethora of other easter candies. This assortment of delicious annual candy is probably one of the major reasons that Easter is one of my favorite holidays. Today when searching frantically for Mini Eggs at Wal-Mart and being told that there is a shortage this year and the Cedar City Wal-Mart only got one box and that there were no chicks, bunnies & ducks I had the following conversation with Brittni.

Brittni: Easter candy is way better than Halloween candy. We should go trick or treating on Easter.
Me: I agree. Easter candy is delicious.
Brittni: I mean, Jesus likes to share.
(This conversation is not word for word, but you get the basic idea)

This is why my roommates make me happy. They understand my need for easter candy and I can have these sorts of conversations with them. They will also go to 4 different places just so I can get this candy. I now have easter candy and if you want to come and visit me, I will probably share.

Quotes!

I love quotes. Sometimes they just say exactly what you are trying to say in a much better way. I think that I am just going to put one at the end of every blog. Today you get a few. Lucky!

All I want out of life is a moments peace, a good book, and a great pair of shoes. - Katherine Hepburn

Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself

Hello All!

Hi. I decided that I wanted to put all the things that make me happy on a blog. This might be a little crazy and random, but I am a little crazy and random. So here are the rules of reading my blog...
1. No judging my incorrect grammar and punctuation and such. I'm trying.
2. Comment...because that would make me happy.
3. Sometimes I might put things that make me less than happy...deal with it.
4. Know that if you are reading this, you are one of the people that make me happy!

Well, umm...The thing that makes me happy today is yoga. I went to my first class in a year today. I forgot how unflexible and unbalanced I am. It was alot of fun and Lynsie got extra credit for me going. Bonus! Oh and Lynsie makes me happy, but that will have to be another blog.
