Never Ends

This is the week that never ends,

Yes, it goes on and on, my friends.

Some person woke up Sunday, not knowing what it was,

and they'll continue living it forever just because,

I'm a JERK!

It has become very apparent lately from various sources that I am a jerk. I am sorry! I need to say sorry and I am much too big of a wimp to say this to people's faces so I am going to blog it.

I know that I shouldn't gossip, but I did. I am sorry. I genuinely think that the person we were talking about is a great person. I shouldn't have said anything. I'm sorry that it took reading a social media site to realize what a jerk I was being. I wish that I could go back and erase all of the things that I said, but I can't. I will try and think before I speak and make sure that what I speak is nice.

I'm sorry that I let all of my amazing friends slip through the cracks. I do not mean to ignore you. I promise. Sometimes I just feel like your lives are so much more interesting than mine and I don't want to intrude. I hope that whenever you need anything you won't hesitate to call. I will try and do better about keeping in touch.

I'm sorry that I don't keep my phone near me and pay as much attention to it as I should. I find it when I am going to bed to set my alarm and discover that somebody was trying to call or text me. I don't mean to be rude and not call or text back, it is usually just too late to do whatever it was you were planning and too late to call. I'm scum.

I'm sure that there are many more ways that I have probably offended you. I'm sorry!! I will try and do better.

Don't be yourself - be someone a little nicer. ~Mignon McLaughlin

The Dryer was Framed!

So I was doing my laundry one day and thinking about how everyone blames the dryer for eating socks and decided that there is no way it is the dryers fault. I think a more likely suspect is the washer. Think about it, don't you agree that the washer probably ate the sock? Here's my thinking: the washer has the agitator where the sock can get stuck under or if you have one of those new-fangled washers like my mom does the sock could get stuck in the lip part of the washer. Plus, the dryer is nice and make the clothes all dry and warm and snuggly whereas the washer basically beats the dirt out of them. Yep, the dryer was framed.

It's a Beautiful Day...

It's a beautiful day in this neighborhood,
A beautiful day for a neighbor.
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?.

I need to study, but...I procrastinate. So, I was looking up random things and happened upon a website and looked up something and came upon something else that reminded me of when I was little and would watch Mr. Rogers and came upon this delightful little page that has a bunch of songs from the show. One of my favorites that I just listened to was You Can Never Go Down the Drain isn't that just dang reassuring. I was worried. Also, this song is great, I especially like the part about riding a bicycle.

If you want to ride a bicycle
And ride it straight and tall.
You can't simply sit and look at it
'Cause it won't move at all.
But it's you who have to try it.
And it's you who have to fall (sometimes)
If you want to ride a bicycle
And ride it straight and tall.
You've got to do it.
Every little bit
You've got to do it, do it, do it, do it
And when you're through,
You can know who did it,
For you did it, you did it, you did it.

There are some great messages that came from that show. You just can't beat Mr. Rogers.

It really is a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Fall is definitely in the air (literally in the air because my asthma/allergies are making it so I don't get any!) The beautiful fall weather is making me want to do fall things like go on a hike up the canyon, jump in piles of leaves, wear sweaters and hats, make soup and pumpkin flavored things. YUM!

Wonder about things. Accept people as they are. Look and listen carefully. We all have feelings. Ask a lot of questions. Haircuts don't hurt. Teach by example. Feed the fish. Share. Play. Love. Be yourself. Everything I ever needed to know, I learned from Mister Rogers.

The Delta Girls

So Mom is AWESOME and played Softball in the Huntsman Senior World Games this past weekend. I find that uploading pictures to blogger is sort of annoying and this way I only had to upload one, so click on it and zoom in. :) I dare say that Mom had one of the biggest cheering sections for her at the games (that I saw at least) Mom hit a HOME RUN, caught a long throw home as catcher to get someone out and WIN a game and did AMAZING in the outfield. She also tore her hamstring and has a pretty purple bruise. So all in all I think the weekend was successful. She did awesome and we had a lot of fun being entertained by the situation.

They call it softball, makes it sound like it's harmless, you know. You ever take a line shot to the face with a softball? You don't go "Hey, that's Downy Soft. That was like a big ball of cotton! Hey, don't worry about that! That's Blood Light! We're playing softball, we're all going to float around like angels!"- Brian Regan

To Top it all Off

I have been pondering a change with my hair and had a great example in my niece Mary. She was playing beauty shop with her cousin Emma and somehow the real scissors got in the mix of supplies.Mary claims that she told her that she didn’t want her to do it and told her no.  Needless to say the girl who was born with only a few strands of hair and at 4 years old could FINALLY put her hair in a pony tail now has a cute little bob hair cut courtesy of Emma and Asher (the girl that fixed the original hair cut). It really is cute, but I think that Mindy was way more traumatized by the event than Mary was.

So occasionally I have mini-crisis in my life and decide that my hair needs to change. I was trying to grow my hair out for a while but then gave up in July. So my hair is just below my chin now and I dyed (spelling?) it red. But now I want to get it cut shorter but I want a picture to show the girl that is going to cut my hair so I turned to my friendly neighborhood Google to help me with this. Do you want to know what I have found out about my hair? It has multiple personality disorder. Yep. You read right. My hair is thick, sort-of curly, but the individual strands are kind of thin. Plus my face shape is neither round nor square..All of these factors mean that I should stop trying to find a picture on the internet because all the hair looks either really weird or I think would look weird on me. So hopefully going short short is a good idea. Perhaps I will post some before and after pictures and you can all see for yourself and maybe Mindy will update her blog and you can see the cute cut that Mary has.
By the way, since I am going off about hair, did you know that having a different color of hair is kind of fun? I have only dyed my hair once before in my life and that was not permanent. It was kind of scary to just dye it. But having red hair is kind of fun. It is not too extreme and either people just haven’t noticed or don’t think it looks good not that many people have commented on the red. But hey, I like it, It makes me happy and it is my hair. :)

How can I control my life when I can't control my hair?

Tumbling Random Thoughts

Here are some thoughts that were tumbling around in my head lately, this list is in no particular order.
  • It is good to have folks
  • I am a VERY lucky girl to have all of my grandparents in my life. I love them all so much and am grateful for everything that they do for me and their amazing examples
  • Pray for my Grandpa Johnson
  • I have an amazing family.
  • I need to study...but just don’t want to.
  • Life without school is cool, but kind of weird.
  • The fuzzy headache that I have had for the past 3 days needs to leave...now.
  • Having a girls night with Angelia, Mary, and Emily was a ton of fun and should happen again...
  • Mindy and Melissa are good moms.
  • Angelia is going to be a good mom.
  • I get a new niece in approximately 13 days!
  • I get a new nephew in approximately 2 months and 16 days!
  • I need to get working on the presents for the above mentioned new little people.
  • I want to do something cool this weekend...any ideas?
  • I have some pretty awesome roommates.
  • Hanging out with Carla a few weeks ago was fun.
  • Went golfing with Jac (who I was not avoiding, by the way), Melissa, Mom and Dad on Monday and golfed horribly but had fun with my family.
  • I should golf more than once a year because my back kind of hurts.
  • I got par on one of the holes, it was over a water hazard and everything! (the ball splashed in the water and rolled up the hill and landed about 4 feet from the hole. Be impressed. I gave up when I saw the water splash, Melissa had to tell me what happened)

  • Mike comes home in 3 months!
  • Mike is awesome to be on a mission!
  • I want to go on a hike

  • Brittni must be the most patient person ever. She is with me all of the time and is still sane.
  • Marcia and I live in the same town and never see each other. This should change.
  • Marcia has to get up way too early in the morning.
  • Lynsie is taking Organic Chemistry. I think she deserves a blizzard or some other treat every day of the week.
  • Mindy Crockett  brought back guitar hero with all of the rock band stuff. I like that game but am in no way good at that game. I can, however, occasionally hit the pedal on the drums...Lame, I know
  • I get to go to Zumba tonight.
  • My family is going to be doing the Biggest Loser for the rest of the year
  • I need to be more diligent at exercising
  • I have more random thoughts going through my mind but this list is getting kind of long so I will stop
I mean, really, when have I ever been pondering what you've been pondering? So, what are the chances that this time, I'm pondering what you're pondering? "Next to nil." "Well, that's exactly what I'm thinking, too." "Therefore, you *are* pondering what I'm pondering..." - Pinky and The Brain

A Bad Case of a Drowned Cell Phone

I have effectively put two phones out of commission within the space of two months. The first one just decided that it didn’t want to work for no apparent reason so I went back to the phone that I had about three years ago that liked to drop calls and had a few other glitches but it worked okay until my pocket decided that it had had enough of carrying the phone and ejected it right into the toilet never to live again. So…if you need to get in contact with me I have an email, a blog, and a facebook account that I check…occasionally. My plan on my cell-phone lets me get a new phone on Sept. 3 and now I am counting the days. If anyone has an old phone that they would let me borrow until then I would very much appreciate it :)

Somehow I think that I am supposed to learn a lesson from this. On Sunday the talks in Sacrament Meeting were on being too attached to technology. I like to think that I am not that attached, but I think that this experience is teaching me that I am a little too dependent on it. I didn’t think that I used it that much but I no longer know the time and it scares me to use my actual alarm clock as an alarm clock (plus it makes the most annoying noise to wake up to). I am afraid that the alarm won’t go off and consequently wake up every 20 minutes for hours before I need to wake up. I am still using technology to get this message to the world so maybe I am not learning as much of a lesson as I should.

Dilbert: I'm addicted to e-mail. My endorphins spike when I get a message. When there are no messages, loneliness and despair overcome me.
Dogbert: Have you tried sending e-mail to yourself?
Dilbert: We don't talk about that.

Prime Factors

So you have probably already come to the conclusion that I am weird but I am going to totally confirm your suspicions. I found the following comic strip on xkcd.com and was so inexplicably happy that I am not the only one that does this (and hey the author of the comic strip must have done it, or known someone that did).

Factoring the Time

By the way, 1453 is a prime number so 1*1453 would be the prime factor. Just so you know.

Sometimes It Pays to Complain

To start this story I would just like to say that I really do like my car. It makes me feel sporty (especially when  it gets to go cool places and/or has the bike rack attached so the following story is not a reflection on my feelings for my car rather the situation in general.

So I have been having some issues with the windows on my car. The first one broke during finals week and I just kept trying to get it fixed, but they told me it would cost me almost $400 dollars to fix it. I was so ticked, I had read online about how it was a common problem with the 2006 Jeep Liberties that the motors and regulators die and I didn’t have any money to get it fixed. I just had them put the window up and I wasn’t able to roll it down, which was annoying, but I could deal with that.  Well, a few weeks ago the passenger side window also broke while it was sitting in the parking lot innocently minding its own business I was ticked, annoyed, frustrated, wanted to cry, and sort of angry. I took it to shop and they put up the window with duct tape, I looked like the redneck hick that I probably am but try not to be.  So I emailed Jeep a rather strongly worded letter about how ridiculous the situation was and TADA! They called me back and told me to take it to a Jeep Certified Dealership so they could diagnose the problem and see if they could pay for it. They decided that they would pay for it.(YAY!)  On Sunday my back driver side window broke too, (Yes, this is the same window that broke as I was driving away from the dealership after I bought my car, which was thankfully still under warranty) and they decided that they would pay for that too. So  now all of the windows on my car roll up and down and the regulators and motors have all been replaced except for the one window that the mechanics said was fine.

So (very)long story short. It pays to complain because this situation would have probably cost me over $1,000 but only cost me $106.25 (plus a few trips to St. George where I proceeded to buy stuff including a new bedspread :)).

TADA!!

I am finally blogging again. Did you miss me? I was going to start out with a story about how I have been having such an exciting summer that I haven’t had time, but that would be a lie. Although I have been having a good summer I haven’t been quite that busy. Sometimes it is just easier not to write on the blog…sorry! Besides I am on the computer all day and I don’t always want to get on the computer when I am home.

So the whole list of things to do this summer is obviously not going well because I haven’t written on this once a week. Oops!I have done some of them but I definitely need to get through them faster. I am quite far on my reading list though and have read quite a few books that aren’t even on the list.

I have been sick this week and I had food poisoning last week and I was sick earlier in the summer so all in all I think that I have fulfilled my sick quota for at least the next year. At least! Being sick is not one of the things that make me happy, just so you know. But the good news is that other than a lingering runny nose and sore throat I feel sooooo much better.

In other news, my mom, aunt, sister and brother-in-law are amazing. This weekend they went to Idaho to compete in the Spudman Triathlon. They all lived...as far as I know .They are all basically awesome and I wish I could be as cool as them…maybe next year.

Apparently I feel the need to make this long, but this week I got a Wii. My parents are giving it to me for graduation and it has been a lot of fun. I went and got a Wii fit balance board and game and if you ever need to reevaluate your goal of losing weight just step on one of those and do the body test. YIKES! Oh well, that is why I got that right? Motivation.

Well there are some random bits of my life. See you soon (hopefully!).

My Hero!

Today is the anniversary of the day of birth for my hero. He is AMAZING! He is the best dad that a girl could ever ask for and I am so glad that he is my dad. He is a genius and knows all sorts of information. He is super strong, when I said hero I meant super hero. He is great at fixing things and I call him up whenever I need advice on anything that needs fixing. I could go on, but I will just end with this: I LOVE YOU DAD! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

James

So there is this boy that stole my heart 6 years ago that loves Toy Story, Cars, riding his bike, fruit, water (swimming, boating,…) , under-doggies on the swing, playing with any sort of ball, the Olympics and many more things. We made a deal that he would give me a hug when he sees me and he gives the best hugs, epic really. He is awesome and Tuesday was his birthday. I hope that he had a fabulous day and that he had a great party at the swimming pool.

So the upstairs of our house is a little on the warm side and I bought a fan in order to get some Z’s. I found this comic that matches my sentiments on the occasion perfectly.

  2. Atonement by Ian McEwan
  3. Light on Fire Island by Marlene Bateman
  4. Dickens Inn Series by Anita Stansfield
  5. Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling (before the movie comes out)
  6. The Sorcerer’s Apprentice by Tahir Shah
  7. The Authoritative Collection of Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson  (this is coming in the mail as I write, I got it for super cheap, I am way excited)

  9. Leven Thumps by Obert Skye (because I am soooo behind in this series)
  10. Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan
There are a bunch of other books that I want to read, but I am running out of time and some of these series are kind of long and I need to have a social life too. Looking over this list you would probably think that I am 13…umm…yeah. If you have any other suggestions of books you think that I would like, I would love to hear about it!

20 Things That I am Going To Do This Summer

So for the past few years I have made a list of all of the things that I want to do in a summer. This has been a fun way to make sure that I do all of the things that I want to get done. I wrote this list a few weeks ago but decided that all of you get to see it and maybe you can join in the festivities that are my life :) I am giving myself until 10/10/10 because that sounds like a very even number.

1.    Ride my bike in Little Red Riding Hood
2.    Read the Book of Mormon
3.    Eat a s’more ( I say a which means one, but I will probably eat a lot, darn me and my lack of self control)
4.    Make Ice Cream (preferably the sour cream and raspberry, YUM!)
5.    Try a recipe I have never tried before at least once a month
6.    Pass part of the CPA exam (UGH!)
7.    Blog at least once a week
8.    Make a skirt or dress
9.    Redo the kitchen furniture
10. Do a 360 on the knee board (I’m going to do it this year, don’t mock me on the goal that I have had for the past 3 years. Hey, I heard that! No snickering!)
11. Get up on the wakeboard
12. Go on a hike that I have never done before (this does not include #18)
13. Go camping
14. Finish the top of my t-shirt quilt (that has been in process for 2 plus years)
15. Write my missionary brother/friends at least once a month
16. Do something that scares me---Maybe jump off a cliff (into water of course or maybe paragliding, I saw someone doing that as I was looking out my window and it seemed safe from the comfort of my kitchen…I need to become friends with someone with the stuff )
17. Lose at least 10 pounds (this could be difficult with the s’mores and the ice cream and the recipe goals…oh well, imagine me thinner, it is going to happen!)
18. Hike Angels Landing (because every time I go to Zion’s everyone else has already done that hike. How am I the only person in Southern Utah that hasn’t done that hike?)
19. Scrapbook my life until age 18 (wish me luck)
20. Have a better attitude. (I know this goal isn’t quantifiable, but you can tell me if I am succeeding)

If you couldn't find any weirdness, maybe we'll just have to make some! - Hobbes

Fruit Vs. Vegetable

It is the endless debate. Is it a fruit or a vegetable? I have decided that sweet things are fruits and vegetables are usually green. That is the basic premise that I have for fruits and vegetables. But then there are all of those other random things like squash, eggplants, pumpkins (is that redundant when I already mentioned squash) and don't even let me get started on the tomatoes. You have had this conversation, right? I am not the only one that is constantly having the debate over the fruits vs. the veggie qualities of a certain food. Okay, I was just making sure. So the other day I had this conversation with Brittni on messenger and she sent me this link. Read it, it explains things.

http://vegetablegardens.suite101.com/article.cfm/fruit_or_vegetable_

My world has been rocked. Squash is a fruit and a vegetable? Weird. Seeds. That is the answer. If it has seeds it is a fruit. Mind blown! And all of this time I have been having the above ground vs. below ground or from a tree debate and all the time the answer was in the seeds. I feel as if my whole life has been a giant lie. Squash is fruit. Oh, but aren't you glad that the United States Supreme Court didn't have anything else to do but decide that a tomato was a vegetable?

News Flash

I am tall. I know, this might come as a surprise to you. It isn't? hmm...All my life people have been telling me that I am tall. This has already been brought to my attention. I realize that I am of an abnormal height, that I am taller than a lot of people, I know this. Random people that I meet feel like they have to point this out to me. They say it like it should be a revelation to me. Guess what? It's not. I am fully aware that I am tall.

I have recently decided to embrace my height. I bought some super cute wedge shoes that make me appear to be 6 feet 27 inches, and I like it. Whole new possibilities of footwear are opened to you when you decide that it is okay to be tall. I still love the flat shoes, but hello heels!

Yes, I'm tall. Thank you for being the 387th person to point that out

The other day someone sent me a link to xkcd.com and I found a bunch of comic strips that reaffirmed my suspicion that I am a nerd. Case in point:

The Past Three Weeks

Apparently there are more people that read this than I thought. People keep telling me that I need to update (you should comment or at least click on the little boxes at the end), but in my defense I have been a little busy. Do you want to know all of the things that have happened in the last 3 weeks? I am going to tell you anyway.

In birthday news some of my favorite people have had birthdays in the last few weeks and I wasn't able to celebrate with most of them, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY Janie, Grandpa Coats, and Grandpa Johnson!

Nicole Pace (my roommate) and I had the same birthday! Apparently it is an excellent day to be born. My friends apparently understand my desire to be a princess (or to be a little kid, take your pick) and we had a fun party with lots of friends and fun while I wore a tiara and waved a wand while sucking on a ring pop. I also received a Snow Cone maker, books,a coloring book, and a few other fun things. We can totally have another party and have snow cones ( I now have more fun flavors. YUM!)

I graduated with my Masters in Accountancy and went to commencement on April 31 and the School of Business graduation on May 1. YAY!!!! I am finished!!!

On the following Monday I started a new job at LearnKey in Cedar City. So far it has been really good and will help me to prepare to take the CPA exam. Plus, I get to work with Brittni and a bunch of really fun people.

I rode my bike in the Goldilocks bike ride up in Herriman and the surrounding areas 30 miles. The day could be summed up in two words: hills and car-keys. It was a really good day for a bike ride with lots of hills and after we got to hang out with Jan and Mel for a while because some keys got lost. Good times.

Sunday was Mothers Day and I just have to say that I think that some of the best moms on earth were at my house. I hope that you had a good day Mom, Grandma, Grandma, Mindy, and Angelia (okay so she is not quite a mom but will be in a few months) To make the day even better I got to talk to Michael. (Shout out to Mike, you are awesome and I LOVE YOU) I found out that he can read this. Does this count as a letter to him every week? Hmm...interesting. Just kidding. I will still write you...probably. He is doing well in Alabama and is hanging out with some hicks from the sticks. (I can say that because I am pretty sure that I am also a hick)

On
Monday we went to St. George to get some stuff to make our house cute. I am going to redo a table and chairs this week. That will probably be my next post.

So there is the update on my life. I was sort of busy and got intimidated by all the things that needed to be posted. Maybe next time it won't be so long and it won't be three weeks away.

One More Week--Summer Here I Come!

I only have one more week, one more class, one more paper, and 2 more tests and I will be done!!!!HAPPY! Summer here I come! I have missed you so much. We will need to become reacquainted in the form of many bike rides and trips to the lake. These activities combined with reading whatever book I want and seeing the sun on a regular basis should very easily reaffirm my deep and abiding affection for this wonderful season.

After next Wednesday I never have to go to school ever again. You have no idea how happy this makes me.

No More Pencils, No More Books, No More Teacher's Dirty Looks!

Deepest Fear

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Marianne Williamson

Cooties...

You have selected cooties.
Cooties come in 2 strains, girl cooties and boy cooties. To prevent contracting cooties, avoid the opposite sex. If you have been in contact with the opposite sex, get treatment immediately. Girls can spin in a circle and scream "No Cooties, no cooties" until the cooties fly off. For boys, a cootie shot is usually necessary in the form of a punch in the shoulder from a trusted friend. If however you contracted full-blown cooties, the only way to get rid of them is by staging a battle between your action toys and the action toys or dolls of the person who gave the cooties to you. Or by carrying 3 lizard tails and a baseball card in your backpack for 4 days.
Be warned, cootie catchers are not fool-proof and have not been shown to be effective.
Suffice it to say, I had a little bit too much fun calling The Nestle Crunch Hotline tonight.  To enjoy the full menu call 1-800-295-0051...I think that is the number, press 1 and then 4. It was super funny. However, it said that it won't be available after April 21, but try anyways.

Let's Go Fly A Kite

I have awesome friends! I was able to fly a kite on Saturday and on Sunday. I know, you're jealous. On Saturday I went to Park Discovery with Nicole, Lynsie, and Mindy. It was a lot of fun. The wind was finally the right speed to fly a kite and not shred it to bits. I know this because Lynsie has become an avid wind watcher while waiting for the opportunity to fly a kite.
On Sunday afternoon a bunch of us went to the park/high school by our house. Fun times! I am glad that I have enough influence to make this many people go fly kites. Thanks Mindy, Nicole, Matt, Brittni, Kristen, Jacob, Charlie, and Jo for flying kites with me and listening to me quote Toy Story. Sorry I didn't get pictures of everyone.

Sleep

Sleeping makes me very happy. If you know me at all, you know of my deep and abiding affection for this particular activity. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was the voting-thing for our grade in the yearbook in high school and I was voted as Sleepy. I love sleep, without it I become loopy and silly or after a certain point I just get cranky.
You might be asking yourself after glancing at the time stamp at the bottom of the post, if she likes it so much why is she blogging about this particular subject at this early hour? I have no idea. It just seemed like the thing to do. I decided to change things up from asking you to donate money for cancer and to sign up for exercise.
I have not been to bed very early at all this week. If I stop typing now and go to bed, it will be the earliest I have fallen asleep all week.
Good Night and Sweet Dreams!
(I think this was the loopy me that I was talking about)
